Personal data – any information relating to an identified or indentifyable living individualnatural, such as, their ID number, address, phone number, etc. In order to fulfil our obligations to a client, we need to process your personal data. Your personal data will be collected and processed only when and to the extent it is necessary to achieve a specific, clearly defined and legitimate objective.

What is the purpose of processing your personal data by AFB?

We process your personal data in order to provide you with quality and customised insurance services. We have undertaken to improve and develop the quality of our services consistently. We may use your personal data to provide you with insurance quotations from pur partner’s databases, to respond to your requests and questions, to fill in contracts and to perform other similar functions. We also may use your data to fulfil the obligations resulting from the statutory requirements, such as, user identification and the provision of data safety, the prevention and investigation of fraud.

How do we collect your personal data?

We collect your personal data directly from you. Some data may be obtained the process of the service delivery (we may also collect data from various public registers, such as the Road Traffic Safety Directorate, The Motor Insurers’ Bureau of Latvia).

Your personal data is processed by the employees of AFB, who are authorised to handle personal data.

What data is processed?

The processing of your data is related to the provision and use of our insurance services. Your data is collected during a transaction. We only aggregate the data relevant to the use of a specific insurance service or for another legitimate purpose. You provide your details to AFB when you request a service.

The personal data collected by us include:

  • Information necessary to establish and verify your identity, such as your given name, surname, personal number;
  • Contact details, such as your address, email address and phone number;
  • Information related to the provision of services, customer relations and their management;
  • Information required for compliance with the statutory obligations;
  • Information about the use of our services provided on the website.

The volume of the processed personal data is determined by the specifics of the service rendered by AFB.

Who do we transfer your personal data to?

In order to provide you with a quality service, AFB cooperates with other service providers, such as insurance companies. Your personal data is shared with insurance companies based on the mutual cooperation agreements. AFB may also share your personal data with the relevant state and municipal institutions in order to meet its statutory obligations, e.g. The State Revenue Service, the Motor Insurers’ Bureau of Latvia. AFB processes your personal data within the EU. Yet, when we are required to transfer any data outside the EU or EEA, we provide a sufficient level of personal data protection in compliance within a legal framework, e.g. the modal contract clauses approved by the European Commission.

Your rights?

You have a right to check the collected information, to make a request to have any incorrect or insufficient data corrected, and to make a request to have any out-of-date data or information, which is not necessary for the purpose of processing your data, deleted.

How is your personal data protected?

We protect your personal data, with extra care and using appropriate data protection methods. The methods used include proactive and reactive risk management, use of a firewall, access and data safety systems, controlled access and the allocation of user rights, as well as constant monitoring and provision of appropriate training to employees of AFB, through training of the employees of AFB, who deal with the processing of personal data. Furthermore we take an extra care in assessing and choosing the cooperation partners of AFB.

How do we store and renew your data?

We store your data for at least as long as you remain our client. Your personal data is processed for as long as it is deemed necessary. When the customer relations between AFB and the client are ended, the data retention period depends on the type, the purpose of use and the legal requirement for the retention of data. The retention periods may be set in the Customer contract, they may depend on the legitimate interests of AFB or the applicable regulatory enactments (e.g. Laws on accounting, prohibition, civil rights, etc.).

During the data retention period we comply with all legal requirements.

We want to retain your personal data always correct and up-to-date, we will delete all unnecessary data and renew any out-of-date information. Therefore, you are recommended to check regularly whether your data is renewed and up-to-date and to notify any changes of your personal data to us as soon as possible.
